During the visit, our students gained valuable insights into production processes, supply chain management, and how the company maintains its strong position in the market.
The visit included a guided tour of Wernsing’s production facilities, where students observed the various stages of food processing, from raw material selection to final packaging. They also learned about the company’s approach to automation and efficiency improvements. A highlight of the visit was the opportunity to witness the application of pulsed electric fields (PEF) technology, a technique they had studied in their courses. Seeing how PEF is used in an industrial setting to enhance the texture and processing efficiency of potato products provided a direct link between their academic studies and real-world applications.
To complete the experience, the students were treated to freshly produced fries, allowing them to taste the results of the innovative processes they had just learned about. This hands-on exposure reinforced their understanding of how technological advancements impact food quality and production.
